RFM is a nonprofit community radio registered under the Realest Community Based
Organization (CBO) by the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) license number:
CA/FSM/BC/GEN Vol.XII. The broadcasting license was awarded on October 4, 2018.
The founder of RFM dreamt of a better place, a unique and a relevant way of entertaining,
educating, and sensitizing the community; a place where youths could grow their talents and
overall reduce the instances of unemployment in the community.
Transmission
The radio broadcasts on the 99.9 FM frequency and currently covers a 30 KM radius of reach.
The first transmission on air was on 21 October 2018. RFM broadcasts in ninety percent Kikuyu
and ten percent Swahili and English.
The presenters, reporters, marketers, and news anchors are youths currently working on a highly
voluntary basis as the radio works on sustainable means. The radio show content is focused on
addressing the economic, social, and political needs of our listeners. Often, the presenters invite
experts on different topics to educate, inform, empower and entertain the community, which is
our core mandate.
